A Day Without Devices

I'm back after unplugging for a day - from all digital devices.

Yep - everything.

Wow. Liberating. But it also made me see -

Life without socials, AI, and uncle Google;

Has hidden perks along with the downsides.

It's amazing how deep the mind thinks when it has to.

1. I Rediscovered the Joy of Analog Thinking:

All by the rather radical step of going back to basics.

My entire day without any electronic devices meant:

No emails, no notifications, no screens. Nothing.

Just me, a pen, a pad, and a curious sense of freedom.

2. Making Time and Space Forced Me To Think:

As I paused to consider how reactive we all are;

-To emails/messages.

-To customers.

-To content, and to other peoples opinions.

With no devices, my creativity was forced to emerge.

3. The Liberation of Slowness:

And writing with pen and paper made me pause!

There’s no backspace, no cut-and-paste. No AI.

So it made me commit to thoughts far more deeply.

Thinking them up rather than being handed them.

4. The Myth of Always-On Productivity:

And although I love Technology - and use it daily;

Being constantly connected is a dopamine hit.

A quick fix that sometimes tricks us -

Into believing we’re accomplishing something.

5. So Here Is The Challenge:

I talk a lot about hybrid models -and the future;

Of human input, ideation and AI merging.

Influencing, complementing and enhancing the other.

But the original supercomputer is still the mind! 🧠

6. The Unseen Cost of Convenience:

And my ultimate conclusion?

Technology makes life easier, but needs human input.

The deeper satisfaction comes from effort of thought.

And ease and happiness can be enemies.

7. Is Analog Our Ultimate Power Tool?

A dedicated day of pen and paper seems outdated;

But it was a mental spa day for me, and fuelled ideas.

No algo demanding attention, no breaking of focus.

Just me, my thoughts, and space to create. Try it!
