Welcome again friends, yesterday i spoke more about the ten master emotional states that form part of the nucleus of my self created Coaching Model.
One of those states is Positivity. It gets bandied around a lot and can almost seem obvious when we see it spoken about here on X everyday. But that doesnt mean that its power should be underestimated…
But lets explore how positive we actually really are today.
And the way I like to do this with clients is to set them a challenge which I first learned from Anthony Robbins nearly 23 years ago now.
Since then I have amended and evolved it slightly but the core essence (and credit) goes to the great man himself.
Introducing the Mike Masters Positivity Challenge!
Here is how it works. For the next day, starting from the moment you open your eyes, have anotbook beside you or open two digital notes on your phone.
If you decide that you are interested in this, then the mission is to set yourself up with the following parameters.
You will be examining and logging data around just how positive - or solution focussed you really actually are.
Every time you focus on and notice a thought that is useful, or positive you make a mark on your notepad or on your phone.
You do exactly the same with a negative thought, or anytime that you find yourself dwelling on a problem.
If you do decide to participate, then rules are simple in essence, but as with most things worthwhile in life, you may also find them to be far more challenging in practice.
So starting right now, commit to taking full control of your mental and emotional faculties. Deciding that you will not entertain or dwell on any negative thoughts or emotions for the entire duration of the process as much as you are possibly able to.
While this might seem simple, you'll soon discover how often your mind slips into unproductive or negative thought patterns. This challenge is designed to help you discipline yourself to swiftly change your mindset and emotional state without getting caught up in them, ultimately mastering your mental and emotional well-being.
Always remember to spend no more than 10% of your time dwelling on problems and at least 90% on finding solutions.
I've taken this challenge multiple times, and it has profoundly impacted my life.
Here are the four essential rules of the Mike Masters Positivity Challenge:
Rule 1: Commit to Positivity
For the next entire day, upon waking, embrace only positive thoughts and expressions. Steer clear of self-doubt and pessimistic language. Challenge yourself to replace disempowering questions with constructive affirmations.
Rule 2: Pivot Your Perspective
Whenever negativity creeps into your thoughts, pivot towards positivity. Transform your mindset by asking, "What's the silver lining here?" Shift from self-criticism to self-celebration, such as changing "I can't do this" to "I am capable of great things!" Begin each day with a ritual that primes you for emotional excellence.
Rule 3: Solution-Oriented Mindset
Direct your energy towards finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems. When challenges arise, quickly brainstorm several approaches to overcome them, focusing on actionable steps forward.
Rule 4: Handle Setbacks Gracefully
If you find yourself lingering on negative thoughts for more than a minute, don't be too harsh on yourself. However, the challenge requires starting anew the following day. The goal is to string together an uninterrupted day of positive thinking and feeling.
The Mike Masters Positivity Challenge will:
-Increase your awareness of negative mental and emotional patterns.
-Encourage your brain to find empowering alternatives.
-Boost your confidence by showing how quickly you can change your life.
-Help develop new, positive habits and standards.
Are you ready to take this challenge? Think it through, once you commit, there's no turning back.
